Job title: Finance Manager
Job description: One of Canada’s largest equipment finance companies has a newly-created opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to handle the financial reporting functions of the company. The role will also assist in completing the month-end, analyze and interpret results, and provide recommendations and insights to improve financial performance.
You will oversee 5-6 direct reports, so people management experience and excellent leadership skills are essential. Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain knowledge of the finance industry, funding, securitization and the company’s different lines of business
- Oversee the monthly financial reporting process and responsible for completing the monthly financial reporting package
- Review the financial statements to ensure they comply with the applicable GAAP
- Prepare the monthly financial reporting package and variance analysis and commentaries on actual vs. budget
- Analyze and interpret monthly financial results and KPI
- Work with the senior accountants to ensure all month-end procedures are completed
- Maintain and review working papers for all general ledger accounts
- Oversee and manage all the daily/monthly/quarterly and annual accounting activities and tasks
- Oversee the daily banking activities
- Ensure the annual audit is completed within 120 days after the year-end and on budget
- Provide accurate information and timely assistance, and resolve issues with the auditors
- Prepare quarterly and annual bank covenants reports
- Lead, mentor and train the finance team in their daily tasks, technical knowledge and professional development
- Maintain good communication and relationship with operations departments, and provide support when and if required
- Assist in developing and enhancing business model, prepare an annual budget, quarterly forecast and monthly reforecast
- Prepare cash flow projection for rolling 12 to 18 months; manage the company’s cash flows and working capital
- Provide business decision support based on proper analysis and business intelligence
- Recommend and implement new processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of team performance
Here’s what you bring:
- 8+ years of previous experience in financial reporting and modelling in a medium-sized company (approximately $25m+ in annual revenue and 70 to 100 employees)
- Bachelor of Commerce with a major in accounting, finance or equivalent
- Canadian CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA and CPA) or equivalents preferred
- Experience with ERP such as Sage 50 Quantum, Sage 300, Oracle NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics Business Central would be an asset
- Ability to resolve complex accounting and audit matters and basic Canadian tax matters
- Experience managing a team of direct reports
- Strong knowledge of ASPE is required, strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP would be an asset
- Good knowledge in Canadian tax, experience with U.S. tax would be an asset
- Hands-on experience and knowledge, and the ability to roll up your sleeves are required
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent organizational skills, results-driven, with the ability to multi-task
Salary 90-110k plus an excellent benefits package, bonus pay, wellness program.
