Reporting to our client’s Director of Finance and Administration, this exciting position is responsible for providing sound bookkeeping services and financial analysis for our client. In this fast-paced position, you’ll be working as part of a team, ensuring the organization’s financials are completed accurately and on time, while also supporting human resources.
Some of this position’s duties include the following:
- Maintaining all the accounting records, general ledger, and completing month-end and year-end procedures
- Reconciling accounting and tax receipt ledgers
- Developing program-specific financial reports and controls
- Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget
- Managing cash flow, forecasting, and cost centre planning
- Maintaining confidential payroll records
- Ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration
***This is a WORK from HOME position until Dec 2021, and our successful candidate can work from anywhere in Canada. However, as of January 2022 our successful candidate is expected to be available to work out of our client’s southern Ontario office (located within driving distance from Napanee, Kington and Belleville areas) going forward, so relocation may be required.***

Qualifications:
- You’ve completed your University degree in Accounting, or Business Administration (or comparable combination of postsecondary and work experience)
- You have experience in budgeting, tax compliance and quality assurance in a not-for-profit environment
- You will also have 1-year experience working in a not-for-profit sector in an accounting capacity
- As an accounting guru, you have a thorough understanding of GAAP
- You are confident in using Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Your working knowledge of accounting software, such as Sage, enables you to put numbers in their place accurately and efficiently
- You are a self-motivator who can work independently and effectively collaborate with internal teams
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are your forte.
- If you have experience working in or belong to an Indigenous (First Nation, Métis or Inuit) community, we’d love to hear about it, as an awareness and understanding of Indigenous (First Nation, Métis and Inuit) culture is a MUST for this role.
- Willingness to travel, as overnight travel is required on occasion
- Driver’s license is considered an asset
- Oh yeah, of course, you must also be legally able to work in Canada and able to pass a Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
