Schedule: 3:30pm – 7:30pm, 4hr shifts
Wage: $17.40/hr
Location: Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanichton
Requirements: FoodSafe Level 1 Certification, previous food service experiece an asset
Need to Know: Fixed days off, 40hrs biweekly worked

Available Premiums:

– LAUNDRY – Employees covered by this agreement shall be entitled to a Laundry Premium of 65 cents per shift.
– NON-SLIP SHOE – Employees required to purchase non-slip shoes for work shall be entitled to a Shoe Premium of 10 cents per shift worked.

Summary of Benefits: Employees eligible after 450 hours worked.

– BC Medical Plan – 100% of the premium paid by Employer.
– Life and AD&D Insurance – 100% Employer paid, $25,000.00 coverage.
– Dental Plan – 100% Employer paid, basic coverage plan.
– Extended Health Care including Hospitalization and Prescription Drugs – 100% Employer paid, semi-private coverage, Natural Formulary Drugs with a $2,000.00 per year max and overall $100,000.00 EHC lifetime maximum.
– Eye Exams – $50 every 24 months.
– Vision Care – $250.00 per Employee every 24 months.
– Paid Sick Days – Employees entitled to 8 days sick leave per year to be taken at any time. The year shall be Jan 15 to Jan 14 inclusive. Non-cumulative, i.e., unused sick leave days are not to be carried over to the following year.

Job Summary

Prepares, presents and serves meals, ensuring the quality of the food and overall presentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in all areas of the Food Service operation, including food issuing and preparation, meal tray assembly, delivery to patient rooms.
• Washing and sanitizing of dishware, cooks’ pots, pans, other cooking equiptment.
• Practice safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Ensure sanitizers and cleaning products are in place.
• Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of assigned areas.
• Ensure that all safety standards are adhered to.
• Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
• Provide service in the cafe, including cash register operations and customer services.

Qualifications:

• FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
• Familiar with the use of a cash register is an asset.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage heavy workload.
• Ability to work both independently and in team setting as required.
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant or fast food is considered an asset.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
