Job title: Front Desk Agent

Job description: Best Western Dorchester Nanaimo – unique downtown full service hotel is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team at the Best Western Dorchester Nanaimo front desk.

$15.00 / hourly to start depending on experience

Terms of Employment:

Full Time employment (32 to 40 hours per week) hotel offers health benefits dental/prescription drug coverage, after 90 day probationary period.

Shift work involved: mostly 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm or 7:00 am to 3:00 pm or a cover shift from approximately 10:30 am to 6:30 pm depending on business levels.

Days of Work: Vary with two days off mid week. Weekend work is involved. Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Education: Completion of high school, some college/CEGEP/Vocational or Technical Training

Front Desk Certification an asset

Experience: Must have a minimum of 1 year hotel work experience

Languages: speak English, write English, read English

Business Equipment/Computer Applications: Multi-line Switchboard, Computerized Reservation System-Visual Matrix PMS, Word processing, and spreadsheet working knowledge, General office equipment.

Cash handling skills: cash, Point of Sale Credit Card Machine/Debit Card Machine. Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook.

Specific Skills: Register arriving guests and assign rooms. Process group arrivals and departures, Take, Cancel and Change room reservations. Process telephone calls; provide information on hotel facilities and service. Provide general information about points of interest in the area. Provide information about service available in the community. Secure guest valuables, process wake up calls, store and retrieve luggage, exchange foreign currency, Process guests’ departures, calculate charges and receive payments, balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms, Customer service orientated, follow emergency safety procedures, follow details privacy and confidentiality procedures, work with minimal supervision.

Security and Safety: must be bondable, criminal record checks are performed.

Essential Skills: reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication. Working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory, finding information, computer use, continuous learning, multi-tasking is major portion of daily work.

Previous hotel experience is required for this position. This is a full-time position with 32 to 40 hours per week. Recommended Training:
