Job description: The Role The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors. The position will have operational, sales and financial responsibility for the company. The General Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to the company and is responsible for growing the business and for ensuring its financial strength and operating efficiency. As the ideal candidate, you demonstrate a background in a custom fabrication, manufacturing environment and your track record demonstrates strong leadership abilities, strong communication skills, solid business acumen, and prudent financial management. Key Responsibilities: Leadership

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to stretch and challenge staff to deliver results & strengthen relationships within the team, functional units, and customers.
  • Is active in challenging his/her team to be innovative and accepting of change.
  • Ensures team has a clear vision and strategy so they all move in the same direction and execute on the progress plans to maximize results.
  • Conducts regular meetings with clear agendas and priorities. Communicates company initiatives and pursues best practices.
  • Review the current organization structure for optimum effectiveness and manage the company’s talent requirements.

Strategy & Planning

  • Leads team in strategic planning, progress plans, business development activities and identifying competitive landscape & sales intelligence.
  • Build and manage business plans and departmental budgets along with the Board and CFO.
  • Effectively utilizes KPIs, performance reviews, financial statements, and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.

Sales

  • Oversees the implementation of effective sales processes and tools to deliver accurate data through consistent process, proactive planning, and accountability in the sales function.
  • Take a collaborative role, with the Director of Sales & Marketing, in identifying and developing new business opportunities and core areas for growth.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key accounts.
  • Be sales focused and driven by taking an active role in key business development activities to promote the custom manufacturer and its offerings.
  • Lead and assist in closing key strategic proposals.
  • Lead weekly pipeline reviews with the sales team and provides leadership and strategic guidance to ensure closure success.
  • Oversee and execute full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, or general tender work.

Operations

  • Gives direction and provides oversight for all areas of production.
  • Review operational workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships of the departments.
  • Identify resource needs with significant influence on approval of identified needs. Troubleshoots and resolves most complex problems within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas.
  • Monitor performance data to measure productivity and to identify areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings to ensure sales, project management and production are communicating and executing at high levels.
  • Continually seek to improve on performance levels by taking advantage of new technology and anticipating changes in market practices, industry trends, process trends.
  • Ensure that all personnel comply with Health & Safety regulations and policies.
