About the department
The Client Transaction Management function is a critical component of BNPP’s business in Canada. Its remit is to provide high-quality operational support for transactions concluded by the Bank’s sales representatives with new or existing clients, while minimizing risks relating to legal, regulatory and compliance standards, and domestic or international tax rules.
Key Responsibilities
- In close partnership with Client Management — North America, oversee the teams assigned to the following functions in Canada:
- Operational support to business managers: intermediation and coordination between business managers, credit analysts, all departments responsible for operations, Legal, and Compliance, after taking new clients on or having implemented new financing agreements.
- Support to new clients: ensuring the compliance and integrity of technical, legal, regulatory and tax account opening information, after taking new clients on or receiving clients that have been referred by the BNPP Group’s international entities.
- Due diligence: Implementation and monitoring of due diligence and re-certification processes under international compliance standards.
- Client documentation and collateral: recording and monitoring the bank’s client legal documentation and collateral, and recording and monitoring of covenants.
- Active participation in the New Activity Committee (NAC) and Transaction Approval Committee (TAC) to support growth of new business activities and with direct support of business managers.
- In partnership with the Group and the region
- Identify the infrastructure and measures necessary to turnaround and consolidate Canadian operations, including drawing on the regional expertise and global support offered by the Group.
- Implementation of applications and data migrations (GCARS/MAOS; CreditNet/Covenant Manager).
- Align MAOS-related processes to regional and Group standards, including KYC and FATCA.
- Analyze and propose business development options in the context of Group, regional and territory activities.
- Permanent operational control
- Draw up control plans and the risk matrix.
- Draw up business continuity plans (BCP).
- Participate in the Internal Control Committee (ICC).
- Manage teams
- Lead team production and client service operations priorities.
- Monitor daily production and provide secure and efficient operational service.
- Measure performance by establishing key business and risk indicators.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients (both internal and external).
- Recruit qualified employees to support the business.
- Implement and deploy a continuous training plan with the support of the Group and the region.
- Draw up a medium-term succession plan.
Qualifications
Product Knowledge and Skills
- At least ten (10) years of experience in leading an operational team in the banking sector, preferably with knowledge of due diligence and recertification processes and systems.
- Experience in managing geographically distributed teams.
- Successful client service experience; experience working in a financial institution in the USA and France is considered advantageous.
- Thorough understanding and application of regulatory requirements of international laws, including US and European laws, as well as the ability to interpret Canadian regulations in regard to due diligence, tax reporting and money laundering monitoring.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree (4/5 years) at a business school and/or university with a finance specialism.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Spanish is considered advantageous.
- Team management skills and experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
- Able to interact effectively with partners at different levels and in different fields.
- Self-starting, meticulous and independent.
- Able to work on several files simultaneously and to meet multiple deadlines in a constantly changing environment
