What You’ll Do
- In close collaboration with network strategy and procurement, build an external supplier network that meets Biogen’s future needs
- Engage, establish and build strong partnerships with CMO’s and their leadership teams to ensure Biogen’s manufacturing needs are met
- Work closely with the procurement team to build and strengthen our contractual commitments/obligations with our CMO’s to better enable Biogen’s needs
- Establish and ensure consistent governance across our CMO network
- Monitor CMO performance across network and drive improvements where needed
- Manage a team of production leads and virtual plant managers
- Represent external manufacturing in business continuity, sourcing council, S&OP, GSLT, local Site leadership team and other forums
- Own budget for parenteral products and ensure financial compliance
- In collaboration with legal and procurement ensure contract terms with CMOs are in alignment with Biogen standards
- Represent external manufacturing in continuous improvement efforts and other complex projects
Qualifications
Who You Are
You have a minimum of 12 – 15 years of experience in working in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on manufacturing of parenteral products. You enjoy working in a cross-functional and highly diverse environment and are comfortable to work in a virtual set-up. You are interested in both business and technical aspects of drug product supply and have proven track-record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You have experience as a people manager and are passionate about developing your staff.
Required Skills
- Experience in manufacturing of parenteral products, manufacturing experience for other modalities is a plus
- In depth experience in working with external suppliers
- Good understanding of supply chain needs for both originator biologics and biosimilars products
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English is a must, French, Italian or German is a plus
- Strong negotiation skills, experience in negotiating complex contracts
- Good understanding of drug development and regulatory requirements
- People manager experience
Additional Information
In this role you will lead the parenteral arm of Biogen’s external manufacturing organization. You will be part of the leadership team of Biogen’s external manufacturing organization and will report into the Global Head of External Manufacturing, based in BAAR, Switzerland. You will have the responsibility and accountability to build and maintain a reliable and high performing network of external contract manufacturing partners and suppliers (CMO’s) to support Biogen’s need of parenteral products. . You will lead a team of 10 – 15 virtual plant managers and production leads who are responsible for the overall relationship, delivery and execution of manufacturing needs with our CMOs and accountable for clinical and commercial supply.
