This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community-based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Western Zone Director Health Services, the Health Services Manager, Medical Unit develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates all activities and resources within this portfolio, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of patient care. The Manager ensures that the principle and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are visible at the front line and within daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree related to healthcare or management
  • Current designation with applicable professional association; (Social Work, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy, Nursing, etc) is required
  • Master’s degree related to healthcare or management is preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent related experience, including at least two (2) years’ experience in a formal leadership role with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource, partnerships and financial management
  • Information systems – ability to work within Microsoft Office suite
  • Progressive leadership and/or management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare structures, environments and services
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated abilities related to staff and program development and evaluation
  • Demonstrated networking, negotiation and change management skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Travel may be required; valid NS driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages, French preferred

Hours of Work

  • Permanent Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Commencing as soon as possible

Salary Information

$41.1721 – $54.7053 hourly
