We are currently searching for an Accounting Generalist to join our salary team on a full time basis.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support in the Finance department in a variety of different capacities including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, General Cashier and general administration.
- Ensure compliance to all hotel policies and actively demonstrate teamwork, safe work practices, open communication, accuracy in transactions, respect, sincerity, helpfulness, courtesy and humility
- Prepare and follow-up daily cash overage or shortage reports and post all daily deposits.
- Reconcile POS with PMS postings
- Reconcile Daily Revenue and Settlement (Credit Card) postings.
- Reconcile cash deposit with General Cashier
- Preparation of reports including: Daily Revenue and Labour Report, Daily Income Journal, Monthly Aging Reports,
- Prepare daily discrepancy report (i.e. missing bills, inconsistencies, etc.)
- Verify, monitor, and review hotel revenue reports and night audit reports for Rooms, F&B, Spa and Other Departments
- Ensure that daily revenues and settlements are in balance
- Perform credit checks on all clients requesting direct billing
- Process deposits and invoices for all groups and catering events
- Investigate and respond to all credit card charge backs and guest enquiries via telephone and e-mail
- Monitor and action all accounts receivable and past due accounts
- Follow-up on payments and collection of Accounts Receivable
- Charge and mail out monthly tenant bills
- Maintain and audit accounting legers and PM accounts, ensuring they contain billing addresses and invoice numbers
- Ensure a continuous emphasis and focus to improve service and quality standards for the Finance Department
- Undertake other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Previous Accounting/Finance experience gained from within a hotel environment is preferred
- Possess strong analytical and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Considerable competency in accounting related procedures, computer technology and hotel applications generally with knowledge of Opera Property Management Systems and Micros is preferred
- Ability to create and edit Excel Spreadsheets
- Experience in the role of Night Audit, Income Audit and/or Accounts Receivables an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
