Our client, a leader in the Aluminum Siding and HVAC Industry is looking for a HR Generalist to join their team.

Position Overview:

As a growing manufacture, we are seeking a motivated Human Resources Generalist who is responsible for directing the Human Resources organization at the facility. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for working with the site Plant Manager to create strategies, policies and programs that achieve the following for the facility;

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead full cycle recruitment process (Internal and external) – work with hiring manager to identify requirements, update job descriptions, draft job postings, screen resumes, conduct interviews perform background checks, and draft employment letters.
  • Ensure that all new hires participate in the new hire orientation program.
  • Ensure that management throughout the organization is provided with the right tools to handle employee issues as they are governed by the Collective Agreement and, specifically, provide strategic leadership tin developing and deploying the labour strategy for labour negotiations and day-to-day matters, including interpretation and application of the Collective Labour Agreement.
  • Ensure that satisfactory and expedient handling and resolutions of grievances by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information such as researching case law, reviewing precedents, gathering related documentation and where required, represent the Company in Proceedings before grievance boards and labour relations tribunals.
  • Act as a liaison between management, employees and the union by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and policies, striving to resolve work-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with the Collective Labour Agreement.
  • Adhere to all applicable legislation and ensure the facility remains legally complaint.
  • Ensure the security of employee records and the appropriate retention periods for variety of documents.
  • Ensure the company and its employees operate in an ethical manner.
  • Participate in the preparation of the quarterly Business Plan meetings.
  • Ensure the tracking and communication of all HR metrics. Analyse metrics, identify opportunities for improvement, develop and implement action plans to improve the efficiency of HR related programs.
  • Drive and support programs that improve the site’s operational effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the design and assist in the implementation of new and existing policies and procures pertaining to all aspects of the human resources function.
  • Ensure that all health and safety incidents are investigated and that the proper reports have been completed and follow-up action items are closed out.
  • Oversea the coordination, administration and execution of all benefits related activities.
  • Administer the Company’s compensation program in alignment with performance expectations, including the merit and bonus programs.
  • Support the organization’s performance management program ensuring that leaders have all require resources and all employees receive regular employment feedback.
  • Oversee the deployment of the site’s attendance management program and ensure it remains compliant with all applicable legislation.
  • Oversee the administration of Short-Term disability, Longer-Term disability and WSIB claims.
  • Oversee the return to work process for both occupational and non-occupational absence.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP is preferred.
  • Must have 5+ years’ Human Resources experience
  • Must have minimum 3+ years of Labour relations experience.
  • Able to make sound business decisions and evidence based recommendations to management.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
  • Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven conflict resolution and negotiations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to have a positive impact on business results.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required.

Expected salary: $70000 – 80000 per year
