The Role
Start Date: January 3, 2023
Preferred Work Term Length: 12 – 16 months
Discipline: Commerce, Business Administration with Major in Human Resources
Preferred year of study: 3rd/ 4th year
Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in a formal co-op/internship program with their post-secondary institution OR Students must be returning to their post-secondary institution after this work term
Number of positions available: 1 or 2

The Role
We’re seeking an HR Co-op Student to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Total Rewards, you´ll be working with a team of dedicated employees across North America and get exposure to all areas of Human Resources. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team working on important projects while receiving the mentorship, knowledge and experience to develop the skills you need to build an exciting career.
During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging projects and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term. You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company. To succeed, you’ll need to cultivate and communicate a clear vision and set goals for yourself, whilst also juggling individual country specific targets.
Some of the key responsibilities of the HR Co-op Student could include:
Total Rewards:
- Provide timely and accurate transactional support for employee life cycle events through partnering with the business and internal HR teams
- Support day-to-day Total Rewards administration by working closely with 3rd party vendors, employees, and internal stakeholders including areas of Benefits, Pension, Compensation
- Acts as the first point of contact for a variety of HR-related queries and provides excellent customer service support both internally and externally to HR
- Assist with the creation of materials related to HR procedures and policies (e.g., process documentation FAQs, quick-reference cards etc.) and maintain regular updates to our internal CNOOC North America webpages
- Participate in projects to develop, review and improve HR processes
- Support HR processes such as annual benefit enrolment, legislated leave process, disability claims, annual compensation cycles and others
- Maintain personnel files, data requests, and any compliance-related information
- Assists with other tasks and projects that related to the Total Rewards life
- Maintains processes in Workday and assists employees with transactional queries
- Assists with coordination and tracking of the disability claims process
- Reconciles, coordinates and logs invoices
Talent Acquisition:
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team in full lifecycle recruiting for employees, students, and contractors
- Manage a high volume of jobs to post, refresh and sponsor to ensure hiring managers are receiving qualified candidates in a timely manner
- Assist with the creation of materials related to Talent Acquisition procedures and policies (e.g., process documentation FAQs, quick-reference cards etc.) and maintain regular updates to our internal CNOOC North America webpages
- Maintain shared mailboxes
- Assist with Applicant Tracking System (ATS) maintenance
- Supporting the recruitment process in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Complete background checks for new hires
- Respond to queries from candidates, employees, and vendors or direct query to the appropriate contact
- Support ease of transition from candidate to employee by supporting the coordination of the onboarding experience for new hires
- Track and report on recruiting activity for North America
- Support the planning and execution of recruitment programs
General Human Resources:
- Support other areas of Human Resources with coordinating or implementing programs and initiatives as required.
