In a stand-alone role, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all aspects of the Human Resources function including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, employee engagement, on-boarding, and training. The successful candidate needs to be able to work and manage the challenges of a diverse, manual labour environment. We offer a competitive compensation package and reward top performance. Human Resources Generalist
Reporting to the President, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily activities of the Human Resources function. There are no direct reports for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Selection: All responsibilities related to this area. The company does require an individual who can manage a high volume of recruitment activities in order to ensure the production team has adequate staffing levels.
- Performance Management: Must develop and coordinate the performance appraisal process and coach managers and supervisors on conducting effective performance interviews.
- Orientation and On-Boarding: Responsible for on-boarding and conducting new hire orientation.
- Health & Safety: Responsible to act as a manager rep on the JHSC and to ensure that the company is in compliance with the related legislation.
- WSIB Case Management and RTW Administration: Responsible for managing the WSIB process, included but not limited to, completing Form 7s, Return to Work program coordination, and documentation.
- Employee Relations: Is responsible for responding to, escalating employee inquiries, and troubleshooting employee’s issues or concerns ensuring optimum employee relations.
- Training: Managing employee training requirements and performing or coordinating training as required.
- Advisory Support: Advises and consults with the President on Human Resources issues, policy development and decisions. Must ensure the company is in compliance with applicable employment-related legislation.
- Disciplinary Actions: Working with Supervisors to effectively and fairly respond to disciplinary situations in accordance with company policies and procedures. Maintenance and training of those policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
- CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience across several HR disciplines in a similar role; recruitment & selection, employee engagement, orientation and on-boarding, health & safety and employee relations.
- Experience processing payroll or experience auditing payroll calculations.
- Experience managing a temporary workforce and relations with staffing agencies.
- Advanced computer skills; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet applications, HRIS etc.
