Team Profile:

The Legal and Compliance Division assists Morgan Stanley in achieving its business objectives in a manner consistent with the Firm’s core values and Global Risk Management Principles, by facilitating and overseeing the Firm’s management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk.

Position Description:

Professionals within Legal and Compliance provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm’s invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm’s businesses.

The Information Management (InfoMgmt) group focuses on the firm’s ability to effectively retain, retrieve, and protect information to meet its obligations and generate value for its customers and shareholders.

The Information Management program operates in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Information Technology, Corporate Services, Technology and Information Risk and reports to the Global Information Management Council (GIMC). The GIMC oversees the firm’s information management strategy and information governance initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

The governance manager will have responsibility for the program and control frameworks supporting the execution of the InfoMgmt Strategy. Specifically, the InfoMgmt governance manager will be responsible for:

  • Supporting strategic planning, execution, and prioritization of the InfoMgmt book of work
  • Partnering with Information Technology and Sourcing on the development and procurement activities associated with InfoMgmt products & solutions
  • Establishing control support for information repositories management
  • Developing and maintaining the InfoMgmt metrics framework and program assessment model
  • Driving accountability and performance from all InfoMgmt program constituents
  • Managing InfoMgmt issue tracking and escalation
  • Providing guidance and assistance on the development of senior management reporting
  • Helping to manage InfoMgmt online presence

Qualifications

Skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience in information governance or financial services industry
  • Excellent written, editing and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Agile concepts in a squad, preferably as a Scrum Master
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with senior management directly
  • Demonstrated ability to apply financial governance and reporting rigor
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and attract, retain and develop talent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Skills desired:

  • Semantic analytics, cognitive computing or machine reasoning experience
