Job Description
About This Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager the Information Security Specialist role will be responsible for the data management and governance for the Fusion Operations and Cyber Intelligence domain. Currently, the Protect Fusion Organization, which is the overarching organization of the team, is standing up a data management framework aligned with enterprise requirements and industry best practices.
Data management and governance plays a pivotal role in data quality and compliance by creating and maintaining the necessary frameworks, standards, policies, procedures and processes. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator with sound experience in the data lifecycle, data analysis, data quality, data movement, business glossary, data risk management, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Protect Fusion Data Management team to ensure the domain’s data management processes are aligned with the expectations of the Enterprise Data Lifecycle Team, as well as with the Office of the Chief Data Officer.
- Implement solutions: You will analyze data issues and work with the business to implement best practices, including the documentation and implementation of governance processes for managing data, data labelling, and methodology, and solutions for improving data integrity. You will define and monitor metrics for data governance activities, adherence and exceptions.
- Establish, implement and document processes for managing data, and build organization awareness on key data topics.
- Collaborate and assist domain program leads in identifying and mapping current data sets, as well as create a glossary and inventory to assist with data tracking and hygiene.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data accuracy and ensure that data owners are accountable for data quality
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) on strategy and initiatives related to data management and governance
- Identify, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness to support business reporting requirements
- Build organizational awareness. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, ensure that data owners are accountable for data quality and key data metrics, and actively promote the concept of data integrity, data quality, and data standards.
- Business process mapping and data risk identification.
- Work with data risk team, regulatory or audit as it relates to activities and responses that focus on data.
- Develop compliance guidelines. You will develop and implement definitions, enhancements, and compliance guidelines along with data quality standards and business rules, support additional data auditing and workflow specifications associated with data integrity.
Requirements

- 5 years experience in data management and governance, including knowledge or Operational Risk Management focused on data.
- Proficient in data management industry best practices, compliance and data assessments.
- Knowledgeable of data protection practices and data assessments.
- In order to provide effective oversight and independent challenge the role requires the incumbent to have a good understanding of the following areas:
- Risk management frameworks and methodologies;
- Data Governance & Cybersecurity frameworks, Privacy, operations, processes, controls and tools;
- Technology operations and processes;
- Third party risk management;
- Cloud service provider management, and;
- Regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work in ambiguity and independently; must be flexible to deal with changes in a fast paced and new environment, working closely with peers and stakeholders.
- Organizationally astute, with superior influencing, collaboration and communication skills. Ability to digest and summarize complex business and technical scenarios and to communicate those effectively to business leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Proven change agent, with the ability to organize, structure, oversee and deliver.
Education and Accreditation:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ Business/Business Technology Management/Data, Statistics/ Risk Management or governance/ IT or related field and experience is an asset.
