IT Software Engineer

Position Description

We are seeking a full-time employee with an educational background in Computer Science or Software Engineer to work as part of a high performing team responsible for the support of our Logistics and Finished Product Shipping Systems. These systems are essential to the operation of our industry leading world class manufacturing processes and are part of one of the largest integrated IT environments in Canada. Our employees have opportunities to work with various technologies within a continuous improvement culture. We are looking for an individual with a problem-solving mindset who has a desire to be part of this essential team.

In performing this role, you will be required to:

  • Support existing legacy systems
  • Design, develop and deliver systems based on user requirements
  • Create, troubleshoot, and maintain PL/SQL solutions
  • Configure and support the Transportation Management System and internal logistics solutions implemented at Dofasco.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts from Dofasco and as well as various vendors.

Qualifications

University bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Initiative and drive
  • SQL developer experience required with a preference for Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience in software development ideally in Visual Basic, C/C++, .NET, .NET Core, Java/Spring, HTML5 and Angular.
  • Web / Mobile / Android application development experience an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to support legacy applications as well as learn and develop new skills.
  • Data Analytics experience an asset.

Working Conditions:

Office environment.

Hours of Work:

Days, Monday to Friday, with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads, paid off-hour on-call system support, flexible work options.
