About the Role:

Reporting to the Data Scientist – Information Technology and the Data Product Manager – Advanced Data Advertising, you will be responsible for the research and development of effective method’s to determine content sentiment within Corus’ video asset store of content aired across specialty and conventional networks.

The goal will be to implement a proof of concept across a small group of episodes which can be scaled (at a later date) to be applied across a broader portfolio of Corus content.

Responsibilities:

  • Research the various types of data required to perform a robust sentiment analysis (for example: show genre, dialogue, subtitles, etc.)
  • Researchdifferent techniques to conduct sentiment analysis and identify pros and cons for each technique
  • Leverage internal content data and external data, if required, to analyze text, speech and perform natural language processing
  • Determine small scale taxonomy to assign tone to episode scenes
  • Apply the methodologies to a few episodes from shows with different genres
  • Propose sales and content applications for sentiment data
  • What could a sales solution look like? How can data on asset sentiment help the content teams create content differently?
  • Present findings and recommend a technique based on results

About You

What We Need From You:

  • Currently a student enrolled in a graduate degree program for business management of AI
  • 2+ years using ML techniques in a work or academic environment
  • Understand the concepts of feature selection and feature engineering and how to determine the correct features to use in a ML model
  • Proficient in python development and the use of query languages like SQL
  • Past experience developing ML models that use regression, clustering and classification
  • Past experience using NLP techniques like tokenization, POS tagging, stemming, ngrams, word embedding’s and similarity metrics
  • Ability to visual results and tell a story via reports using graphs, explanation of techniques/methods and benchmarking of results using some means of evaluation

If You Have the Following….We Want to Hear From You!

  • Good communication skills in an Agile team environment
  • Background in statistics and statistical techniques
  • Ability to present findings and make recommendations to stakeholders
  • Development and analysis using R would be nice
  • Previous experience implementing sentiment analysis using any online dictionaries or libraries like SentiWordNet, WordStat and Emoticon
  • Use of cloud platforms such as, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure or IBM Bluemix
