Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a student position in the IT team for a 6-12 month term. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, results oriented IT Intern to join TransAlta’s Information Technology department at our Calgary Head Office. The role will offer the intern experience with Office 365 technologies, phishing email investigation and response security awareness campaigns, business analysis, active directory, Microsoft Azure, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated proficiency in computer software, programming, hardware and infrastructure and be keen to work with business users to remediate system challenges and build new system enhancements that meet identified business needs.

Additional qualifications include:

• Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a directly related discipline at an accredited post-secondary institution
• Prior work experience obtained through internship, coop or summer jobs is an asset
• Possesses a self-motivated, results-oriented approach to work
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple work tasks
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take initiative
• Exhibits a strong ability to solve problems
• Able to work equally well either within a team or independently with minimal supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with the following would be an asset: server operating systems and software, object-oriented programming, databases, report design (Business Objects), Office 365 applications, networking concepts, Software Development Lifecycle and use cases.
• An interest in learning TransAlta’s business
