Job description:

Reporting to the Director of Design, the design team leader will be responsible for the design of the luminaires as well as the supervision of the projects.

Supervisory responsibility

• Supervise a cell made up of industrial designers in the creation of new products and in the continuous improvement of existing products
• Guide the design of new lighting according to the high design and innovation criteria established at Eureka
• Ensure compliance with deliverables and deadlines
• Implement and monitor the design and development process of lighting products;
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) with regard to resources, workloads and quality of execution
• Perform TSA (active supervision rounds)
• Solve manufacturing, assembly or engineering problems
• Coordinate interactions and joint projects with other departments (marketing, buying and selling)

Responsibility for design

• Design architectural decorative lighting for the specification market
• Execute manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings
• Create models and prepare photometric studies
• Work with the ERP system (integrated management software package) and create bills of material (BOM)
• Follow up with suppliers, resolve production issues and deal with the sales department
• Collaborate on marketing and graphic design projects

Requirements

• BAC in industrial design or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years experience
• Excellent team spirit, communication, and leadership
• Experience in the field of lighting, LED, or the electronic world
• Concrete and creative approach to design issues
• Quick learning ability and openness to new technologies
• Realistic understanding of market demands and cost optimization
• Mastery of 3D / 2D design
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as extrusion, die casting, sheet metal, glass, and plastic.
• Excellent bilingual communicator (French / English);
• Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, an asset
