Job description: We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Lean Manufacturing Excellence Manager NA to join our growing Automotive Team at our facility in Windsor, ON. We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents. Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies.

In this role, you will report to the VP Global Operations. The Lean Manufacturing Excellence Manager is responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across all the NA manufacturing facilities to drive improved operational performance. This position works to achieve a sustainable continuous improvement culture at all the NA branches. This role works closely with key leaders from the NA facilities and cross-functional partners

What you will be doing?

  • Leading a Safety-first approach maintaining a zero-accident culture. Ensures and monitors work, accident prevention and environmental protection regulations of the facility to assure a safe and productive work environment free of any liabilities or defects.
  • Develop and manage within the Lean Manufacturing budget. Manage total facility CI initiatives and progress to completion. Responsible to quickly adapt to financial gaps through adjusting timing of improvement plans, creating additional improvements and overall supporting meeting the branch financial plan.
  • Develops Operational Excellence annual plan with a focus on LAMPS (Lean Tools) that drive labour redeployment efficiencies, OEE improvements and shop floor space gains.
  • Able to both teach and implement lean tools.
  • Maintain a culture of functional and Operational Excellence, supports 5S, lean initiatives and to be a committed role model for our Company’s Beliefs and Behaviours.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal capabilities and strengthen the organization (Succession Planning) through training, career development opportunities and recruiting as necessary to achieve Manufacturing objectives.
  • Adherence to internal and external Business Processes and Certifications synonymous with a large US Incorporation operating within the Automotive Industry.
  • Fulfill assigned primary, secondary and or tertiary deputy/back-up roles as assigned and required on occasion by the business.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Lean Management, or the like
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands-on operational roles in supply chain management, engineering or manufacturing
  • 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Automotive experience
  • Experience in applying Lean Thinking principles in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in project management and Six Sigma
