Responsibilities

Within their scope of practice and in collaboration with patients and the health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes. As the acuity or complexity increases and/or outcomes are not predictable, the LPN, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse provides nursing interventions, within their scope of practice as described in the LPN Act and Regulations and LPN Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The RN is accountable for creating the plan of care, that assignment of patients and delegating selected nursing functions to the LPN. The LPN is accountable for individual actions or practices within his/her scope of practice, including the acceptance of delegated functions and for decisions and actions taken in the provision of nursing care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing course and current certification in Nova Scotia
  • CPR certification
  • Recent experience administering medications and/or a pharmacology course is required
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long Assignment, Full Time (100%); 75 hours bi-weekly
Beginning as soon as possible with an anticipated end date of January 22, 2022

Shifts include days, evenings and weekends

Salary Information

Licensed Practical Nurse:
$27.9970 – $30.0687 Hourly
