Job description: This is a Temp PT position working Friday and Saturday 2300-0700, additional shifts available based on availability of staff

Position Summary:

The Logistics Attendant is responsible to provide a high degree of service to all internal departments and patients throughout the hospital.

Maintain and replenish appropriate stock levels for all medical surgical supplies.

Responsible for scanning, unpacking and putting away supplies.

Deliver equipment and non-stock items to end users in a timely and efficient fashion.

Responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients via a wheelchair, stretcher or bed which may include patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, and other equipment.

May occasionally be responsible for inspecting and preparing documentation of products being received/shipped as well as provide back up for the receiver function.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Graduate

Additional courses in Inventory Control, Logistics or Supply Chain Management would be considered an asset.

Experience:

1-2 years of logistics experience in a computerized environment is required.

Experience in a healthcare environment would be considered an asset.

Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and customer service skills.

Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency with computers and software, including barcode scanners.

Very good physical health, as handling of heavy items is a daily requirement.

Ability to push and pull wheeled equipment and moveable carts

Physical demands include:

Able to lift, push and pull heavy loads (up to 60 lbs)

Repetitive light and heavy lifting

Extensive walking throughout the shift

Frequent standing throughout the shift

Competencies:

Product knowledge of medical surgical supplies an asset.

Pleasant manner with neat appearance as patient interaction is a part of daily function.

Ability to prioritize workload with varying deliverables.

Ability to work both within a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Adherence to policy and procedures related to health and safety and patient safety

Must maintain confidentiality pertaining to patients and staff.

Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, afternoons, evening and midnight shifts.

Responsibilities:

Establishing, maintaining and replenishing appropriate stock levels for all medical surgical supplies through accurate inventory scanning, delivery and replenishment.

Serves as a liaison between staff on units and Logistics Manager.

Providing timely service regarding amendments to inventory levels on supply carts.

Maintenance of supply carts including affixing labels, keeping products orderly and clean, rotation of stock, checking for expired product and adjusting par levels based on ordering patterns.

Ensure supply rooms are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.

Transporting of patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed to appropriate areas such as clinical units, treatment or consultation areas.

Transporting of equipment and supplies to clinical units to ensure the smooth flow of operations

Providing safe patient transport by ensuring equipment is clean and in working condition.

Reports any improperly working equipment to supervisor.

Picks up equipment and supplies for reprocessing.

Picks up equipment identified as for disposal.

Other duties as assigned

Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
