The Manager, Finance will be a key member of The Source Finance team. The Source Finance is responsible for the integrity of The Source’s financial statements and support the business unit by ensuring the effectiveness of business processes and through compliance with accounting rules and regulations.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and technical skills and a clear ability to identify and interpret accounting and control issues. The successful candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills in order to build relationships at various levels of the organization and have the confidence necessary to participate in discussions. In addition, the successful candidate will be a self-starter that is able to work independently to complete specified tasks under tight deadlines within a fast-paced working environment.
- Review, authorize and complete monthly accounting entries with well documented justification and appropriate back up
- Analyze monthly results and understand business initiatives in order to ensure integrity of financial reporting through analytical reviews, investigation of variances and preparation of continuities and reconciliations
- Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for reasonableness leading investigations to resolve issues and make corrections where necessary
- Prepare quarterly and annual analysis in support of provision reviews and financial disclosures
- Lead timely ad hoc investigations and reporting to support month-end close, business operations or project implementation which will require working with cross functional teams, independent analytical review or technical accounting research
- Act as an internal representative for external and internal customers assisting with requests for information or accounting guidance
- Maintain and enhance processes through initiatives to streamline or improve quality
- Champion automation initiatives within the team
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills we’re looking for.
- CPA, CA professional designation with 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) including experience presenting directly to senior management
- Technical accounting acumen with an ability to identify key accounting risks and control gaps
- Very strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve issues independently
- Critical thinking with a passion and track record for understanding business operations and improving processes
- Results oriented with the ability to prioritize concurrent deliverables and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to move from details to the bigger picture and to summarize for management review
- Ability to partner and build strong relationships with cross-functional operational and finance teams
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced excel skills preferred
- Experience with Peoplesoft preferred
