We currently have a Regular Full-time opportunity for a Manager, Financial Information Systems on the Finance Department at Bayview Campus.
Hours of Work:
Weekdays: Days, 8 hrs shifts, As per schedule
The Finance Department of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has a permanent, full-time opening for the newly created position of Manager, Finance Information Systems. Reporting to the Director, Financial Services this position will manage all aspects of the Hospital’s Finance Information Systems.
The Manager will help develop the vision and lead the implementation of Finance’s technology strategy including design, implementation and ongoing management of the information systems and related processes. This role requires excellent project management skills to guide the team in an agile work environment leading multiple high priority projects, enhancements and the evolution of best practices and standards within a dynamic healthcare environment. The successful applicant will manage three full time system support staff in addition to contract staff engaged as needed.
Summary of Duties:
Delivery of Optimum Finance Information System solutions including Software Upgrades, Application Enhancements and New Implementations:
- Accountable for the successful implementation of Finance application enhancements and improvement initiatives:
- Conduct environmental scans to identify risks and needs
- Provide overall direction, insight and input into which new tools and technologies we should invest in and the prioritization of suggested solutions
- Provide leadership to ensure that business requirements are thoroughly reviewed and well-articulated
- Develop the decision making criteria to ensure optimum solutions while considering feasibility and practicality
- Lead the implementation of approved solutions:
- Oversee the development of project scope, charters and high level project plans while managing stakeholder expectations
- Contribute to design sessions and oversee decisions relating to system configuration ensuring adherence to best practices
- Lead development of functional testing plan and provide oversight during validation of testing results
- Ensure plans for end user supports such as training are well developed and ensure project success
- Provide the leadership necessary to ensure on time delivery and adherence to budget and resolve project related issues with creative solutions
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including Information Services, Information Security, external vendors and the Ministry to ensure systems are functioning according to required standards (e.g. Personal Health Information Protection Act)
Manage Operational Support:
- Provide oversight to all aspects of in-house user support to Finance users including resolution of critical support incidents with vendors
- Develop effective routine change management processes (including functional testing, validation etc) while ensuring accordance with Corporate IT policy
- Work with IT partners to resolve issues with data or technology issues as they arise
Reporting:
Accountable for the development of Finance reporting capabilities:
- Lead the development of informative and interactive financial reporting and data analytics solutions ensuring solutions are accessible, dynamic, high quality and can be efficiently disseminated
- Act as a liaison between functional users and the technical team to ensure business reporting needs are met
- Support the application of high data quality standards
- Full ownership and development (including data governance and architecture) of Finance data warehouse strategy
- Collaborate with the Hospital’s Information Systems Management Group to facilitate data requests from Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
Data Integrity:
Accountable for the security and efficiency of Finance’s core financial systems:
- Inform and enforce best practices to ensure each application’s security structure maintains appropriate segregation of duties
- Lead required quality assurance, security and data integrity related audits
Automation/Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with business users to proactively identify improvement opportunities
- Identify opportunities to increase automation, streamline reporting practices, improve accuracy, and reduce the amount of time required to complete manual tasks
- Participate in information sharing sessions with other hospitals and the Ministry and leverage from their experiences and the best practices
Qualification & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and supporting finance information systems with progressive growth in responsibilities preferably in Healthcare
- Minimum 2 years direct management experience
- Experience leading, or having a significant role in major implementations such as an ERP and having a significant impact on end-user engagement and project management
- Outcome focused, critical thinker with ability to analyze complex problems, identify potential risks and visualize solutions with proven decision making skills
- Collaborative team player with superior influencing skills, who can build relationships easily to move initiatives forward
- Strong oral and written communication skills including ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical users in a simple manner
- Proven data analytic skills including data management, data integrity and data governance
- Demonstrated competence with the following applications:
- Applications using Oracle and Architectural/ Hierarchical Relational Databases
- SSRS, SQL
- MS Office suite (intermediate/advanced level knowledge)
- Leading edge BI tools (TM1 preferred)
- A top tier ERP system (SAP preferred)
- Strong project management skills, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously
