This role is an exciting opportunity for a creative marketing and communications professional who’s passionate about elevating and supporting our teams with creative, innovative and results oriented communication strategies.

The Manager, Marketing and Communications will lead the execution of innovative marketing and communications programs. They will be the marketing and communications lead on one specific portfolio with a heavy emphasis on change management. This role is more focused on internal marketing and communications. The successful candidate will work with the Marketing and Communications leadership team, along with other key leaders in the organization. Their work will contribute to our mission of being the best digital group benefits provider in Canada.

What will you do?

Work with internal stakeholders to create and execute dynamic multi media marketing and communications programs

Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and other Group Benefits teams to launch new business processes and operations initiatives.

Develop measurement programs to determine the success of marketing campaigns; and ensure initiatives reach target penetration and utilization rates.

Support internal events by working with stakeholders to develop relevant content, presentation and maximize our return on sponsorship investments.

Work on special projects as required

What do you need to succeed?

A minimum 8 years marketing management experience is preferred

Experience within group benefits, financial services or related industry is preferred

Excellent communication, writing and editing skills are essential

Proven project management skills – able to manage competing priorities, with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines

Knowledge of both traditional, social & digital marketing and communications channels

Experience working with outside agencies and creative consulting firms

University degree or equivalent in Marketing and/or Communications is preferred but not required

Membership in industry and/or marketing organizations

Passion for marketing and communications and bringing complex, technical content to life

Strong understanding of marketing best practices and proven ability to translate vision into action

Knowledgeable about marketing functions (e.g. advertising, brand, communications, digital) and the roles each plays in a successful marketing organization

Proven understanding of marketing plans – how to create strategies, objectives, tactics and measurement

Creative, customer focused, and results-oriented

Confident influencing skills with demonstrated ability to be effectively persuasive

Ability to initiate and drive change

Business to business marketing experience

Understanding of Communications Measurement

Advanced interpersonal and leadership skills

Strategic thinker – used to focusing on the big picture

Self-motivated – can work with minimal input or direction

Good crisis manager

Bilingualism is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
