As the Manufacturing Engineer you will be managing and developing concepts, designs and fabrication, commissioning and qualifying equipment and systems in a GMP/ GPP environment. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
This position is based out of Stayner, ON.
What you’ll be doing:
Design Development and Specifications
- Responsible for developing preliminary and basic engineering deliverables that meet URS and compliance requirements.
- Requires collaboration with both the internal engineering team as well as third party consultants.
- Lead major capital projects for equipment upgrades as well as projects for quality, compliance, productivity continuous improvement and product launches.
- Accountable for technical quality of design. Perform appropriate reviews with stakeholders.
- Make sure vendor designs adherence to specification.
- Participate in peer reviews. Responsible for designs that meets project budget and schedule.
- Prepare all start-up documentation for turnover to Production and Production Maintenance.
- Develop test functions to challenge the facility and process systems operating capabilities.
Commissioning and Qualification
- Write and Lead commissioning and qualification execution for accountable system.
- Participate in SLA and FCCA
- Review commissioning and qualification test plans for technical content
- Support mechanical completion and start-up.
- Participate and lead FAT and Critical test plan execution.
Technical Engineering Support
- Provide technical guidance to the teams.
- Responsible to understand site specific standards and procedures.
- Using problem solving techniques, able to identify root cause of deviations and implement appropriate CAPA.
- Develop SOPs and Wis
- Assisting in operator training, on but not limited to related to equipment set up and maintenance.
- Ability to provide guidance and assistance to maintenance team on machine trouble shooting, handling of quality issues, documentation, reporting, and problem resolution.
Your Environment:
- Hours will fluctuate according to the ongoing needs of the business.
- Production spaces may include hot & humid environments with bright lights.
- Able to support overtime and weekend work at short notice.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can lift up to 50lbs.
- Walking, sitting, standing, reaching, and bending required consistently.
- Work on the manufacturing floor as required to carry out the above responsibilities.
- Working with automation equipment.
You’ll need to have:
- Minimum University degree (Mechanical/Electrical or Chemical Engineering)
- Three (3) years of experience in applied process design engineering and/or project experience
- Experience in equipment start-up, qualification and/or validation is preferred.
- Working knowledge of equipment typically used in biotech and pharma manufacturing, filling and packaging.
- Good understanding of the relationship between Good Manufacturing Practices, industry standards and their application to the manufacturing process
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external team members.
- Strong analytical skills, hands-on troubleshooting skills and the capability to utilize AutoCAD, analysis software.
