Job Summary: Responsible for planning, designing, arranging, changing, optimizing and supervising a manufacturing process. Must create, document, develop and implement procedures required to assemble, test process and manufacture products.

Required Education and Experience:

  • University education (undergraduate degree at minimum, graduate degree preferred) in manufacturing engineering and/or science OR Post-Secondary Education (Undergraduate Degree or Community College Diploma) in the one of the following:
  • Engineering
  • Manufacturing (Tooling)
  • Basic knowledge and experience (2-3yr) of Spot Welding and MIG Welding.
  • Basic Knowledge of Drawn ark Stud welding, self piercing rivet preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and experience (2-3yr) of FANUC Spot welding robot and Material handling Robot preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Allen Bradly PLC & HMI preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of iRVision system (Fanuc) preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily activities include supporting Production to fix issues and support Technical Leads, Maintenance and Quality
  • Provide training and mentorship to Technical Leads and Senior Technical Leads
  • Act as project lead within our APQP process
  • Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.
  • Analysing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction and throughput.
  • Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, material purchase, and evaluating products accordingly to quality standards and specifications.
  • Work with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Assist development and conduct project feasibility studies for designs and achieve key milestone dates
  • Developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Recommend and prepare release documents for prototypes, new projects, pilots, engineering changes
  • Requisition tooling, capital and try out material for projects
  • Provide customer support on an as needed basis
  • Follow up all facets of the project from concept to cell layout, launch and run at rate
  • Assist in preparing Quotations
  • Monitor and assist suppliers on meeting project goals
  • Assess and implement continuous improvement projects in relation to current or future project planning
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:

  • Plant Floor 80%
  • Office 20%

Physical Demands:

  • Walking, Standing, Sitting
  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
