As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Exhaust is seeking an eager and enthusiastic experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in the manufacturing industry who can provide a superb customer experience.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for continually analyzing the manufacturing process for the enhancement of safety, quality, and cost reduction. The new hire will apply Lean Manufacturing concepts to improve efficiency by reducing process waste, variation, and inflexibility.

This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering

What you will be doing:

  • Development of new processes/procedures to ensure a smooth transition into Production
  • Provide engineering support to Production
  • Working directly with a cross-functional team to determine the root cause of customer failures including providing support in the permanent solution
  • Work in a cross-functional team in the development of continuous improvement and cost takeout activities for existing and new products within the organization
  • Troubleshooting equipment process issues such as leak tester, end finishers, torque, welding, paint line pre-treatment, and more
  • Provide process parameters for new Launch product including leak test parameters, torque parameters.
  • Develop Assembly processes including cycle time analysis and procuring tooling required for assembly processes
  • Provide engineering support in the commissioning and validation of new equipment
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews for product and fixture designs to ensure compliance with internal DFM design rules
  • Communication & coordination with all other departments & vendors
  • Lead Paint line monitoring and improvement activities (process parameters, panel testing) to ensure performance meets customer’s requirements
  • Support customer and ISO9001 audit activities
  • Work with the Ministry of Environment’s By-law officer on maintaining and monitoring our discharges to the environment
  • Support in duties to maintain a safe work environment including equipment PHSR
  • Provide cost evaluations with the intent to reduce cost and maximize efficiency
  • Understand and have previous experience in Lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you bring along:

  • 5-10 years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication, GMAW Welding, resistance welding, and high-temperature powder paint would be an asset
  • Experience with process optimization and cost reduction methodologies
  • Familiar with Six Sigma concepts
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
  • Strong communication skills
