POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer – Machining

LOCATION: Fond du Lac, WI
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are the process owner for one or more aluminum machining lines. You will provide ongoing technical support for daily operations as well as driving continuous improvement projects to reduce cost, increase FPY, and improve process capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing technical support for aluminum machining processes to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
- Troubleshoot aluminum machining operations (fixtures, tooling, equipment) and coordinate corrective actions
- Work cross functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and CNC Programming teams to address issues as they arise
- Use Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools to drive continuous improvement of processes
- Investigate, propose & manage capital projects for equipment, tooling, and fixtures for new processes or to improve existing ones
- Act as a liaison with product engineering & manufacturing program management as needed
- Develop processes for new product from DFM through PPAP
- Develop and update process documentation
- Actively support and participate in plant safety programs and initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required
- 3-5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machining environment
- Strong mechanical as well as “hands on” aptitude
- Experience with machining processes (e.g. tooling, workholding, CNC programs)
- Ability to interact & communicate with different functions & various levels of employees
- Excellent problem solving skills & ability to prioritize projects, required
- PC skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Good communication skills both written and oral.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with aluminum machining processes
- Experience managing capital projects
- ASQ or SME certification
- Lean Six Sigma certification
- Understanding of GD&T
- Knowledge of SPC
