Implement and manage operational excellence to support and drive efforts within the leadership team and with employee-based process teams to achieve zero harm, improve quality, reduce waste, and maximize process performance. Apply technical knowledge and expertise in the development and/or implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, factory automation, procedures and equipment in all areas of manufacturing in support of the Corporate WIN Strategy and the Parker Lean System (PLS). This job has no supervisory responsibility; however, position mentors entry-level Manufacturing Engineers and new employees. Must have ability to deal with people at a cross-functional level. Position requires ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form in order to present information and respond to inquiries from employees, customers, and suppliers.

  • Evaluate and develop innovative/automation solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes including conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from the operators/production technicians. • Develop and implement “Smart Factory” solutions for existing and new equipment within a cloud-based architecture • Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production. • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, work force utilization , space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing “design for manufacture and assembly” plans • Standardize manufacturing methods. Evaluate, recommend and implement changes to current manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material cost, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. • Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures. Prepare reports summarizing analyzed process information and trends. • Prepare and carry out tool redesign and alterations, change in material specification, dimensions, methods, routing, etc. • Design and prepare concept drawings and implement new equipment, prototypes or modifications to existing equipment. • Direct and/or perform in the following areas: supplier management, supplier audits, product disposition, corrective action, and internal audits. Manages internal corrective and preventive action through returns from customers • Investigate and prepare manufacturing methods for new products and prototypes in a timely manner. • Promote and support lean culture (including but not limited to Continual Improvement, Problem Solving, Elimination of Waste, 5S+S, etc.) within the facility. Work with site leadership on lean implementation using Parker Lean Systems as the principal tool. • Ensure adherence to PLS standards for the Site, Value Stream and Team Improvement Boards, enabling a PDCA culture and progression of the Lean Journey. • Recommend product changes/improvements to Product Engineers. • Determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. • Design and prepare concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. • Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Manage the overall implementations of capital equipment projects. • May lead special projects for a variety of products and processes. Frequent formal and informal customer interface to present program status, including analysis of product failure, probable cause, and corrective action plans. • Identify and implement solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred) • 5-7 years of successful manufacturing experience including at least 2 years of Lean experience. • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation • A demonstrated understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-in-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen • Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Failure Mode). • Follow and comply with all Operational procedures and policies, Quality and Safety programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001) • Strong math/analytical skills, familiarity with personal computer, Microsoft Office, and CAD/CAM software required. • Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision. • Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. • Demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
