Job title: Manufacturing Technician
Job description: We are currently seeking an intermediate draftsperson/mechanical designer/CNC programmer/CNC operator/CNC machine maintenance technician to work in our engineering department/production shop at our Port Coquitlam facility.
This position will require more than one, but not all, of the skills listed below. The duties assigned will be based on the skills of the selected candidate. The candidate’s skill set should be focused around: 3D CAD software; mechanical design of machined and welded steel components for heavy duty machinery; CAM software; programming and machining large and small steel components on CNC lathes, 3-axis CNC mills, and turn/mills; and CNC machine repair.
Skills:
Mechanical design experience, basic electrical drafting knowledge, and knowledge of design for CNC. 3D CAD experience (Pro/E preferable). CAM experience (Mastercam preferrable). Ability to use basic measurement tools (O.D./I.D. micrometer, Vernier caliper, tape measure, square, level) for modelling a part from a sample, determining the size and shape of special parts for repair, quality checks, validating CNC programs, and fixture design. Operation and maintenance of CNC machines. Experience with word processors (Word, OO Writer, LWP). Exerience with databases, such as parts databases (or MRP/ERP systems). Excellent organizational skills for record-keeping. Attention to detail.
Duties:
General modelling and drafting of parts and assemblies working with direction from the engineers
Updating drawings and bills of materials, while observing best practices for revision records
Creating part drawings based on sample parts
Creating repair part drawings based on measurements of structures/machinery requiring repair
Programming the machining of parts including tool selection and determining feeds and speeds
Loading programs to a CNC machine and testing and running the program to produce production parts
Concept – and potentially detailed – design of fixtures and jigs required for machining setups (detailed design would entail producing quality drawings for shop production of those jigs)
General maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machines
Writing various procedures including machining procedures and assembly procedures
This is a full time position and compensation will be negotiable according to experience.

$25.00-$35.00/hour depending on experience
no benefits for first 60 working days, full benefits thereafter
