Your opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Communications & Planning Officer, you will collaborate with members of the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing (SEWB) portfolio to provide input and recommendations on the design, development, implementation and evaluation of marketing and communication strategies, as well as contribute your suggestions towards institutional and tri-campus initiatives.
As a key member of the SEWB Communications and Marketing Team, you will be responsible for graphic design materials, provide marketing support for inter-departmental promotional initiatives and campaigns, and provide administrative support that contributes to the overall functioning of the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials (e.g. including fact-checking)
- Creating and producing graphic designs that reflect departmental and/or divisional objectives (e.g. presenting graphic design work to departmental clients for approval)
- Conducting photography and/or videography shoots (including setting up equipment, subjects, lighting)
- Determining the optimal presentation of video, audio and still images
- Drafting and editing content for print and/or online communications channels
- Verifying that content is consistent with brand identity guidelines
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Maintaining information on digital platforms (e.g. assist with website maintenance, video/photo library maintenance)
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in communications, digital communications, graphic design or other related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a communications and/or marketing support role, preferably in a post-secondary environment
- Experience supporting the implementation of communications and marketing plans, including print, media, and social media platforms
- Knowledge and experience monitoring and utilizing social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, etc.) in a work environment
- Strong graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as experience with web maintenance and design
- Must have excellent communication (writing, editing and proofreading) skills, knowledge of web and print communications, and has a thorough understanding of best practices in digital communications and social media
- Experience working with video and camera equipment, lighting and set-up of subjects
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with team members and establish effective working relationships with a wide range of people from a variety of organizational and social cultures
- Must have a high level of attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated professionalism, ability to display tact and diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality
- Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
Assets (Nonessential):
- Formal training in web development and design
- Knowledge of AODA print and digital media design requirements

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 08 — $55,400 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $70,847. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
