Job Description
Marketing & Social Media Coordinator
This position is funded through Young Canada Works (YCW), a Federal grant program that provides funding to employers to create jobs for students. These programs help youth acquire skills in the cultural and heritage sector.
Proposed Start Date – June 8th, 2021
The Summer Marketing & Social Media Coordinator will facilitate all aspects of the summer marketing plan for the Island Mountain Arts Annual Summer School of the Arts, the summer exhibitions in the Island Mountain Arts gallery and all Island Mountain Arts events and fundraisers.
FACILITATION INCLUDES:
Input into the Marketing plan for 2021
Implementation of the 2021 Summer Marketing Plan
Prepare and schedule press releases, social media posts, event posters & promotional mailings relating to Island Mountain Arts Programming and Initiatives.
Coordinate all photo, video, bio needs for all summer programming for promotional needs and the IMA event archives
Coordinate distribution of all physical marketing throughout Cariboo Region and BC
Update and ensure the websites under IMA jurisdiction (imarts.com & artswells.com) are up to date and accessible
Liaise with advertising and sponsorship partners to ensure sponsorships agreements are fulfilled
Coordinate and liaise with media hired for IMA summer programming
Create and maintain marketing materials in a format that leaves the materials accessible for future grant reports and marketing strategy reviews
Assist with fundraisers, welcome receptions, coordinate artist’s talks, concerts, instructor & student performances, workshops, readings & student BBQs
Assist with aspects of daily office duties such as answering phones, e-mailing, filing, photocopying, tidying, and other duties as assigned
Learn and utilize the IMA databases and website
Assist in running summer programming
Provide information and assistance to gallery and gift shop customers as well as volunteers and events attendees
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
As outlined in the position’s funding, the applicants must be a student prior to employment, with intent to return to studies.
Interest and/or skills in the fine or performing and/or visual arts, arts administration & education
A clear understanding of or desire to further develop interpersonal skills (teamwork, motivation, responsibility, caring, active listening and leadership)
Excellent communication skills: written and verbal; fluent in Englis
Proven computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, data entry
Attention to detail, thorough, conscientious, creative, and a sense of humour
Ensuring timely and effective internal communications
Willingness to live and work in a small town, rural environment
As per the YCW funding, be legally entitled to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
As per the YCW funding, be between the ages of 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
A passion or interest in the outdoors and a valid BC driver’s license are assets
