Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to fill a relief full time career opportunity we have within our team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital! Our Psychiatric department is a 10 bed inpatient unit that includes 2 seclusion rooms.

We have recently completed a department renovation with a focus on staff and patient safety. We have a very skilled and seasoned team that includes a team leader, 2 RNs working 12 hours shifts 24/7 with a 3rd RN on weekends from 1000-1700, a unit clerk and 4 Psychiatrists. We provide group activities and are implementing the PIECES philosophy.

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides: nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers; demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice; maintains and advances own clinical competence; participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

The shift type(s) for this position are days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
  • Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and addictions environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
