Mid-level Naval Architect on Canadian and International Naval and Coast Guard vessel ship contract, functional and detail designs. Will be assisting to further develop customer ship construction specifications and drawing package into functional and detail design products including typical naval architecture and structural analyses and drawing development or drawing review/oversight. Will be supporting efforts for Naval Architecture calculations, analysis and design for new ship designs. Must be able to work in a team environment and to follow the direction of the team leader.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, or related engineering field such as ocean engineering, and 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience directly related to ship design, or equivalent in training and experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • Minimum 1 years of experience as a Naval Architect, with experience in the design of commercial vessels, Coast Guard and/or Naval vessels to commercial standards. Familiarity with the use of Classification Society Rules, SOLAS and IMO regulations, and industrial standards such as ASTM, ASME, DIN. Ability to assist in performing stability analysis, weight estimating, resistance and propulsion analysis, seeking analysis structural design and analysis including FEA, general arrangements development, and space arrangements.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or Ship Constructor. Good communication and organizational skills and in report writing. Proficient with Microsoft Office Product.
