The Division of Neurology provides the only tertiary/quaternary level of care for children with neurological disorders in British Columbia. We have a comprehensive Pediatric Neurology program, featuring subspecialty programs in epilepsy, neurogenetics, neuro-oncology, neuromuscular disorders, brain mapping and neonatal neurology. We have a high quality Pediatric Neurology Residency program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as well as robust training opportunities for residents from Adult Neurology and Pediatrics and medical students.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology seeks a pediatric neurologist, with fellowship training in epilepsy and EEG to join their well-established program. The position will involve medical leadership of the Diagnostic Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory, interpretation of EEGs, evoked potentials, clinical care of patients with epilepsy, teaching medical students, residents and fellows. The Laboratory carries out all forms of electrodiagnostic testing in neurophysiology. This leadership role is integral to the Neurophysiology Lab team, working in partnership with BCCH Operational leadership, Chief Technologist and professional practice supports.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the clinical and educational programs of the Division of Neurology and hold a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of British Columbia. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will have a fellowship in Child Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and EEG certification from the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent. The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a specialist’s license to practice in British Columbia.

Administrative duties will include the following: setting and maintaining technical standards for clinical neurophysiology testing, design and implementation of quality assurance programs, , direction of medical continuing education programs, medical guidance for triage and prioritization of services, to provide advice and guidance of new technologies and services, gather and analyze workload statistics, and provide medical direction in general Laboratory workflow. Works collaboratively with Professional Practice to support Best Practice, Policy & Procedure for service delivery.
