Part-time Professor, Red Hat Certified System Administration

Position Summary

The candidate will be responsible for developing and facilitating the Red Hat Certified System Administrator course. This course will focus on the theory and practical aspects of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL 8) operating system software, and prepare students for the RHCSA exam delivery.

This course will cover typical system administration tasks, such as user monitoring and authentication files; users, groups, and password aging; bash shell features and startup files; processes and task scheduling; basic and advanced software administration techniques; system boot process and bootloader; kernel management and system initialization; logging and system tuning; basic and advanced native storage management tools and solutions; local and remote file systems and swap regions; network device and connection configuration; time synchronization and hostname resolution; the secure shell service; and firewall and SELinux controls.

Course Content: Instructor is to develop/provide content which will be Humber owned.

Learning Delivery Format
This course will include the following classroom formats:

  • Demonstrations
  • Students performing online lab exercises during class
  • Online Class discussions
  • Quizzes
  • Performance-based exams

Qualifications

  • The candidate should be conversant with current educational technologies, including in-class presentation media, learning management systems and other relevant classroom technologies.
  • Required to have a background in Linux and UNIX Operating Systems
  • 5 or more years’ industry related work experience.
  • Teaching/Training experience in a post-secondary/adult education learning environment preferred.
  • Excellent teaching skills adaptable to different instructional settings and student needs; a commitment to student-centered learning; ability to work with students of varied educational and cultural backgrounds; an interest and experience in functioning as a team member.
  • Candidate must have a reliable internet connection, and pc/laptop
