Responsibilities

Reporting to the Nurse Manager or designate of the assigned unit for provision of direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with other health care providers, patients/residents and families, the Permanent Resource Nurse (LPN) will demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice, maintain appropriate clinical competencies, and contributes to a healthy workplace while practicing within the LPN scope of practice in order to provide care to the patient. When necessary, expected to be available for all shifts, including days, evening, weekends and holidays.

The duties of the LPN will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

The Permanent Resource Nurse (LPN) may work in any department within the hospital and is not limited to one unit.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Physical assessment skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, supervise patient/resident care and be accountable for decisions
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships and teaching skills when dealing with patients, visitors and other health care providers
  • Basic computer skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours of Work

Long assignment, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
Beginning June 14, 2021, for approximately one (1) year

Salary Information

$28.3268 – $30.4229 hourly
