Job description: Our client, a leading automotive manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Production Control Specialist to join their growing team in Stratford, Ontario. Reporting to the Production Control/Purchasing Assistant Manager, the Production Control Specialist will lead all Production Control activities including T1/T2 inventory control, ordering, and logistics.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Contact for all Customers to support requirements including regular ordering, supplements, production issues, shipping discrepancies, returnable container issues, etc.
  • Customer Logistic Contact to assist in monitoring and communicating any Customer Logistic issues, including cancelled or late trucks, changes in window times, holiday schedule etc.
  • Stamping planning and coil ordering, forecasting and scrap review
  • Monitor all Customer Forecast for increases or decreases that could impact the company.
  • Plan and Process Production Instructions (Plan) to support Inventory Targets. Assess Production results and take appropriate actions.
  • Stamping planning and coil ordering, forecasting and scrap review
  • Assess impact of supplier short shipments and arranges contingency plan based on results.
  • Monitor and assess all T2 shortage/Overage.
  • Support as required all year end or special inventory counts that are required / requested.
  • Liaise with Logistics provider regarding transportation and logistics issues for the company including expedites and Injects required.
  • Lead all PC related launch activities
  • Coordinate any build ups and/or build outs as to minimize obsolescence
  • Oversee Production plan for Service (including raw materials, finished goods).
  • Follow-up, monitor and inform TM’s about ECI or any type of parts change over timing.
  • Responsible for ordering and monitoring all trial parts needed for all Departments.
  • Prepare Customs documentation if needed for international shipments for all departments. Assist in NAFTA requirements for Suppliers.
  • Provide backup to co-workers within the Production Control Department including PC Admin positions (including shipping results, receiving results, Kanban distribution).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the company’s Environmental Policy and participate in programs that enhance environmental performance. Identify and communicate any potential non-conformances.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the significant environmental impacts of your work activities; follow work instructions to ensure positive environmental performance is sustained. Understand the consequences of delineating from them.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the EPRP (Emergency Preparedness Response Plan).
  • Responsible for ordering and monitoring all trial parts needed for all Departments.
  • Continuous improvement of Legacy System to support company requirements, participate in NA updates and suggest improvements.
  • Expected to kaizen all activities to improve departmental efficiencies and reduce cost.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management required
  • Experience working in a Production Control/Materials Department preferred
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
  • Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities.
  • Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
