Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Professional Practice & Education Leader (PPEL) Laboratory Services, Diagnostic Imaging & Pharmacy facilitates processes to support excellence in patient-centered practice based on relevant best practice, conceptual frameworks, research literature, professional standards of practice, legislative requirements, and other scholarly resources.

In coordination and collaboration with the Operational leadership, the PPEL is responsible for the leadership and coordination of professional practice projects, programs and initiatives including clinical policies and procedures, integrated care pathways, regulatory requirements for competent and safe practice, patient focused care, mentorship, clinical placements, and healthy work environment initiatives which align with Mackenzie Health’s vision, mission and values. This position will plan & coordinate educational programing for Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates quality practice for patient care within the profession.
  • Demonstrates the use of knowledge of health systems and current research to advocate and bring forward to the program leadership the development of programs to support evidence-based practice.
  • Facilitates the planning and application of regulatory practice for the regulated health care professional.
  • Coordinates planning, development, implementation, and evaluation for corporate clinical practice programs which support professional practice and clinical excellence (i.e. mentorship, patient focused care, healthy work environment initiatives, integrated care and work stream pathways).
  • In collaboration with the program leadership team facilitates clinical development of the profession including coordination of needs assessment, development and implementation of corporate practice development plan.
  • Participates in the creating learning and assessment tools such as regulated staff self-assessments and competency skills checklists for staff and students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration and member in good standing from one of the Regulated Health professions above.
  • Master’s degree in a Health related field is preferred.
  • Project management certificate with experience in planning, leading and evaluation of multiple projects, preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills to facilitate identification and development of staff learning needs.
  • A strong desire to promote professional practice and excellence in evidence-based, patient centered care.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the Health care setting.
  • Excellent practice program development and project management skills.
  • Self-directed, works independently and able to effectively lead project teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills, engages others, and is a reflective listener and learner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evaluation methodologies.
  • Proven analytical thinking and proactive problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Proficient with computer programs including; Word Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Access.
  • Understand the Regulated Health Professional’s Act
  • Self-motivated, able to cope with several projects at one time.
  • Flexible with change and able to set priorities and problem-solve.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.
