The Building Design Group of the Department of Public Works (DPW) provides leadership and management for building construction during design and construction for Provincial Government large Infrastructure projects. Examples of large infrastructure projects include: the new Art Gallery, Schools, Hospitals, Offices, Justice Department projects, and Museums.

Primary Accountabilities

As the Program Admin Officer 3, you will be an important member of a team of Architects, Engineers and technical staff who help deliver various Infrastructure projects. You will assist in the management and coordination of external consultant teams as well as various stakeholders including government, community team members throughout the design and construction process.

You will work under the direction of the Manager of Building, the Architectural Design Lead and the Construction Project Managers, providing assistance during the design, tendering and construction phases of large infrastructure buildings projects including the delivery of contracts and tenders for consultants and contractors.

Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate you have a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Architecture or Engineering as well as 5 years of buildings experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

In addition to the above:

  • You must have some experience with large Infrastructure Projects for example: Schools, Hospitals, Offices, Justice Department projects or Museums.
  • You must have experience with the Design Bid Build delivery process.
  • You demonstrate sound judgement and interpersonal skills.
  • You are a self-starter with strong initiative and leadership abilities.
  • You can manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.
  • You can utilize your project management skills to achieve goals and meet strict deadlines.
  • You can communicate well through written and verbal formats with clients, consultants, contractors, government departments and agencies.
  • Computer skills are required, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams.

The following will be considered assets:

  • Experience with Design Build and Construction Management.
  • Experience with building specifications and construction contracts.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:

  • A related master’s degree and three (3) years of related experience

Working Conditions

This role is primarily based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. You may be required to travel within the province to visit sites or regional offices.

This is a term opportunity with an approximate end date of February 17, 2023.

Travel throughout the province may be required, as such you must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel for work.

Pay Grade: PR 13

Salary Range: $2,396.00 – $2,913.00 Bi-Weekly
