Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Clinical Computing Technologist in the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics and Engineering. Based in the section’s Radiotherapy Technology Services group, this post holder will provide specialist clinical computing support services to users of radiotherapy technology. As well as participating in maintenance activity, the team participates in multidisciplinary work, implementing computerised radiotherapy technology and developing technical techniques and processes that support the continuous improvement of oncology services.

Leeds Cancer Centre, situated in the Bexley Wing of St James’s University Hospital, treats over 7000 radiotherapy patients each year. Clinical radiotherapy is delivered through the collaboration of multiple professional groups, with Radiotherapy Technology Services providing equipment management and technical services to radiotherapy equipment, associated medical equipment and associated computer systems. Technical services also support clinical and scientific research and innovation across the field of cancer therapy.

The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including 11 Elekta Agility linear accelerators, 3 Philips CT simulators, Flexitron remote afterloader, Gamma Knife ICON and RaySearch treatment planning system. A Philips MRI simulator will also be installed in 2022.

The successful applicant will have experience working with computerised medical equipment or similar technology where electronic equipment interoperates over computer networks. Experience working with standard computer hardware such as servers and storage arrays would also be beneficial. The successful applicant will be registered as a clinical technologist, healthcare scientist, or healthcare science practitioner.
