Are you a strong finance manager looking to take your career to the next level? This role is responsible for providing analytic support to the Director of Finance and VP of R&D through the preparation of forecast, budget and strategic planning deliverables for $90M in yearly spend. Key to this job will be partnering with the Director of the Project Management group as well as the key R&D teams to help ensure timely project completion. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the coordination and preparation of headcount planning and expenses for the R&D function. This dynamic position will work with several global business partners in accomplishing our growth, operating income and cash flow objectives.

Strategic Business Partner to the R&D team providing financial support to achieve business objectives of a number of L1 executives

Provide preparation and planning schedule for the budget and forecast cycles throughout the year. Ensures SCIEX’s and Danaher Corporate Schedules for reporting are maintained and on time

Ensures timely weekly and monthly R&D expense reporting, variances to forecast and comparative analysis to prior year

Support Preparation of the Annual Plan as well as data analysis for the Strategic Planning Cycle

Support R&D team with financial modeling of new product development and open innovation projects

Supports Month End close procedures for SCIEX including expense accruals and analysis

Support Tax team in timely preparation of annual R&D tax credits

Collection, analysis and submission of business statistics

Act as key finance resource in support of R&D kaizen activities

Ad Hoc Analysis as needed

Some international and domestic travel may be required

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Qualifications and experience:

  • BS in Finance/Accounting or related degree, CPA, CMA, or MBA highly desirable.
  • 5+years of experience with preference to the Life Science Industry. Knowledge of R&D highly sought.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Oracle Applications experience (ERP, Hyperion Enterprise, Planning, HFM)
  • Demonstrated capacity for working independently but can readily seek the counsel of others. Comfortable with ambiguity and quickly shifting priorities.
  • Strong analytical modeling skills.
