Our expectations
Reporting to the Vice-President, Distribution, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the Central Region distribution operations in balancing its objective of driving cost efficient distribution operations while meeting service level expectations. The position will be responsible for the effective execution of multiple Distribution Centers within the region which includes safety compliance, employee engagement, operational and financial performance. The incumbent will oversee a regional management team of Distribution Site Leaders, Maintenance and Distribution Operations Support to ensure that operational execution aligns with the annual operating and financial plan as well as the organizational strategy. As a member of the Distribution leadership team, the incumbent will be contributing in defining strategic priorities and the execution of the Lowe’s distribution strategic roadmap.
Your role
- Accountable for the operational and financial performance of the regional distribution network, ensure financial targets are met, and identify opportunities to drive cost efficiencies as well as network performance improvements
- Accountable for the service level performance of regional distribution network, ensure service levels are met
- Oversee regional distribution activities through DC site leaders and regional operations support team; act as the escalation point for decisions that will impact unit operations and may result in delays that could jeopardize overall business activities, add to cost-to-serve, or impact the organization’s medium-term goals
- Lead the development the annual operating and financial plan and be accountable for the deployment of regional distribution strategies, objectives, and performance standards/metrics
- Ensure regional distribution-related initiatives are delivered as per plan
- Directly manage a team of people managers; be accountable for the engagement level of all employees within their span of control, including associates
- Foster a cohesive team unit and manage the talent pipeline to enable organizational capabilities
- Communicate organizational and functional strategy and translate it into functional goals for teams
- Engage with and influence multiple key internal stakeholders such as Transportation Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Merchandising, Store Operations, and Dealer Services at a regional and national level
- Develop and promote a strong safety culture across all facilities within the region
- Interpret and ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations regarding distribution operations by regularly visiting facilities within the region
Requirements :
The qualifications we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Industrial Engineering. Master’s degree would be an asset
- Minimum ten years’ progressive management experience in Distribution, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related fields.
- Experience in the retail industry, large-scale national distributor, or transportation/logistics service provider would be an asset
- Experience leading or supporting multiple Distributions Facilities.
- Experience leading in a context of transformational change would be an asset
- Financial acumen and demonstrated proficiency in planning and managing an operations budget, identifying root causes to explain variances, and elaborating targeted actions to meet financial plans
- Demonstrated ability to assess, deploy, and leverage technology solutions such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), warehouse automation, engineered labor standard and business analytics tools
- Experience with Blue Yonder WMS would be an asset
- Leadership skills: demonstrated ability to lead teams in a complex organization and quickly establish credibility across the organization to engage and influence others. Ability to build rapport and trust with others.
- People management skills: demonstrated ability to mobilize teams, coach, and drive accountability with a diverse team, including people managers of all levels and associates. Ability to develop and lead a high performing team
- Communication skills: demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of the organization clearly and concisely and across functions to persuade and lead others in challenging situations
- Change management skills; proven track record of successful project implementations involving change management and process improvements
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; proactive nature and willingness to challenge existing processes and propose new solutions
- Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
- Ability to travel (domestic and occasionally to the USA) up to 10% of the time (required)
