This is a Public Health Nursing (PHN) position working in partnership with the multidisciplinary Health for Two (Hf2) Network team. This Registered Nurse – Hf2 Network nurse’s practice is focused on promoting health and supporting a complex, high needs population, including newborns and marginalized women in the perinatal period. This position combines expertise in Public Health nursing, collaborative working relationships and partnership development to address priority health issues. It provides health promotion, facilitation, capacity building, and clinical support to clients and community partners. The PHN partners with the network team, public health centres, community agencies and community stakeholders to provide integrated, inclusive, trauma informed, family centered care in various settings. Hf2 Network nursing practice may include: provision of universal Public Health services including prenatal care; routine postnatal care; health assessment, counseling, screening, immunization; follow up; and referral, linkage, advocacy, consultation, and teaching as they relate to Public Health clients.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Current registration with CARNA. 3+ years’ experience in public health nursing and experience working with the Hf2 program. Recent experience working with vulnerable communities along with a strong understanding of the social determinants of health, health equity and trauma informed care. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Recent experience working with community partners. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team. Valid driver’s license and vehicle. This position requires walking several blocks, climbing stairs, awkward, repetitive movements, sitting, standing, for long periods of time, transporting heavy and/or awkward supplies. Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Canadian Nurses Association certification in community health nursing an asset. Recent nursing experience in antenatal, labour and delivery, neonatal intensive care, post-partum. Recent experience in virtual and in-person facilitation.
