Position Summary

The Registered Nurse on In Patient Surgery and Inpatient Rehab is responsible for providing direct patient care in accordance with the mission, vision, goals, objectives and policies of the hospital and the Clinical Services Department. In Patient Surgery and Inpatient Rehab is a combined unit that supports the patient care needs of surgical and rehab patients and their families. A nurse working in this are will be responsible for providing patient care for both patient populations

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the CNO.
  • Must have a sound working knowledge of the CNO Standards and guidelines.
  • Two (2) years recent surgical experience required.
  • Recent experience caring for rehab patients preferred.
  • Recent Day Surgery experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and concepts of Rehabilitative nursing practice preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize patient care activities, remain flexible and adapt to crisis

situations and change.

  • Demonstrated competence with CVAD, pain control devices, enteral feeding devices.
  • Must be IV certified and hold a current BCLS.
  • Physical assessment course an asset.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record required.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, flexibility and the ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a productive Team member.
  • Must be able to perform all the duties in the position description.
  • Evidence of interest in continuous professional growth preferred.
  • Satisfactory work performance required.
