AHS is currently seeking an experienced Public Health Nurse to join the Camrose Health team. As a Public Health Nurse, your role includes general public health nursing responsibilities; this encompasses immunizations in well-child clinics, adult clinics, schools, influenza, and other mass immunization programs and provides surveillance, follow-up and preventative management to the Communicable Disease Control program. This position includes maternal and child health services which provide strength-based anticipatory guidance, home & clinic visits, prenatal & postnatal programs, breastfeeding support, screening & referrals, and advocacy. To be successful you will be self-motivated, organized with excellent time management skills, and a demonstrated history of comfort with decision-making, counselling, teaching, and strong communication skills both written and oral. You will have a proven ability to work independently, as well as positively, effectively, and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to do chest compressions and be able to lift 15kg. Preferred Qualifications:

Strong knowledge & experience with public health postnatal program preferred. One years’ experience within last three years in Public Health Nursing, including infant, child and adult immunization and maternal / child assessments. One years’ experience with electronic charting (i.e Meditech). Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered.
