Position Summary
The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team has an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Part Time Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Nurse to join the team. This position, on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, is a team-based care treatment model for complex clients with severe and persistent psychiatric illness, and concurrent health and social challenges. This position is an outreach role meeting clients in their homes and community.

The ACT team provides frequent, ongoing mental health assessments, case management, housing assistance, family support and substance use services. As the MHSU Nurse, you will ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work are rotating days and evenings; 08:30 to 20:30

This is a Permanent Part Time (0.77 FTE/57.75 bi weekly hours) position. This position has a regular on-call component from 20:30 to 08:30.

Qualifications
Two years’ of recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license
