Position Purpose
Reporting to the Director, Research Operations, plans, organizes, leads and supervises Research Operations and Strategies activities pertaining to finances, human resources, communications, physical materials and administration. Acts as sector resource person and main contact regarding administrative policies and procedures and the University-wide research management system. Provides high-quality services to stakeholders and ensures compliance with University and government regulations. Manages day-to-day financial operations and ensures best practices are adopted for workflow planning and confidential record-keeping.

In this role you will:

  • Plan, organize, lead and supervise the financial, human resources, communications, physical materials and administrative day-to-day activities of Research Management Services (RMS) to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Act as the focal point for the RMS’s day-to-day communications, providing liaison between RMS and its internal and external clients.
  • Manage and maintain the RMS newsletter, website, social media, Listserve. Disseminates internal and external information, using the various distribution lists.
  • Manage all aspects of the RMS operational budget, special projects budgets and the internal granting programs budget.
  • Direct work and evaluate performance of work-study students.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Postsecondary studies leading to advanced knowledge of administration, accounting, communications and human resources principles or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software including Microsoft Office, Research Data Management System, EDMS (Sharepoint), financial systems, spreadsheets, databases, Internet and email.
  • Excellent understanding of University research funding and programs and of the University structure in general.
  • Experience in interpreting, explaining and applying policies and regulations.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and in interpreting collective agreements.
  • Experience in preparing reports.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High level of discretion.
  • Initiative and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written).
