Job description: Who we are looking for
State Street’s Securities Finance (SF) division is functionally organized into three main areas – Business Development, Client Management and Trading – in addition to many support and management functions that span the three Securities Finance products: Agency Lending, Enhanced Custody (EC) and Alternative Financing Solutions (AFS). These products allow State Street clients to generate income, facilitate short sales or generate financing through the lending and borrowing of securities. The Agency Lending product is a long-established business and State Street is considered an industry leader in the agency lending space. The EC and AFS products are more recently established and are among the fastest growing products at State Street.
As a client management/business development intern, you must be able to learn the Securities Lending product in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Client Managers that service our institutional investor clients as well as different teams including trading, risk, operations, reporting, and portfolio management. In this front –office position, you are expected to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment in order to support time-sensitive client deliverables and division sales effort. You will have the opportunity to work with State Street Managers and clients from all three regions, North America, EMEA and APAC.

What you will be responsible for
As a Securities Finance Intern you will
- Run Revenue and profitability estimates
- Complete various client reporting and one-off requests
- Assist in Client Prospecting
- Complete short-term Ad-hoc projects
- Prepare Client Presentations
What we value

- Knowledge of the Securities Finance industry and Sales and Relationship Management Business
- Learning of Agency Lending core products
- Familiarity with our client’s industry such as Mutual Funds, Pension Funds and Insurance Company
- Understanding of different financial fields such as Relationship Management, Trading, Risk, Portfolio Management, Compliance and Reporting
- Skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Thomson Reuters and other software
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- To excel in this internship you should be outgoing, fast-learner, self-starter and have strong communication skills
- You must be able comfortable interfacing with institutional clients as well as multiple teams on the trading floor including trading, risk, operations, reporting and portfolio management
- Basic knowledge of financial terms and concepts
- Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Bloomberg/Thomson Reuters are a plus
- Python knowledge is preferred but not necessary
Additional requirements
Only students enrolled in a full-time academic program who are eligible to work in Canada will be considered for this role.
