Are you a self-driven individual with experience calculating liabilities and assessment rates? We have an opportunity for a senior actuarial analyst to join our actuarial team at our Richmond office.
What you’ll do
As a senior actuarial analyst you will:
- Research, analyze and provide recommendations on various actuarial / finance issues
- Calculate the actuarial liabilities of all current pensions for WorkSafeBC financial statements and unfinalled claims such as future benefits for existing claimants
- Calculate annual assessment base rates for about 500 classification units, representing about $1.6 billion of annual premium income
- Calculate estimated costs in respect of potential changes to legislation, policy or practice, which affect either worker benefits or employer premiums
- Develop formal reports, presentations and submissions summarizing and interpreting analytical results
- Mentor and guide junior department members

We’re looking for someone who can:
- Research and prepare actuarial analysis reports, statistical tables and graphs
- Gather information, identify issues, logically analyze problems and generate solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-actuarial areas of WorkSafe BC
- High attention to details
- Willingness to report results in an unbiased manner
Your experience and educational background:
- An undergraduate degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science or any related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and working knowledge in SQL and Microsoft Access
- Basic knowledge of financial statements
- Successful completion of three or more actuarial exams of the Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society
- Successful completion of two Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) required for the Associateship designation of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society
- A minimum of three years of recent directly related work experience
